Introduction to Human Services -
A 10-week training to be held at Duluth Adult Education, starting on September 23 and ending on December 5, 2024. The training will cover introductory concepts associated with human services or helping professions. This training will help prepare participants for entry-level jobs in Duluth and Superior area nonprofits. Topics that will be covered are confidentiality, ethics, boundaries, case management best practices, case noting, and a person-centered approach to working with clients and members of the community. The course is free to those who qualify based on grant funding. Certified Nursing Assistant –
SOAR is partnering with Lake Superior College, Duluth Adult Education and CareerForce to provide qualified individuals with FREE, professional training!

Medical Office
April 29th- August 15th, 2024
Location: Lake Superior College and online
The Introduction to Medical Office Training will prepare students to start their medical office career path. This training also provides a foundation for participants who are interested in furthering their education into the Health Unit Coordinator program at Lake Superior College. Participants will gain skills in Microsoft Office Suite software, patient scheduling, medical terminology, medical office procedures, and an introduction to health insurance and billing. This is a hybrid course with courses in person at Lake Superior College and online. Throughout the training, participants are supported by SOAR Career Solutions’ Career Specialists who will provide assistance with barrier reduction, resources and referrals, resume development, and job search assistance.

Commercial Driver's License
In this training you will prepare to pass a commercial driver's license test. Learn basic and advanced procedures for operating a truck, understand commercial driving safety, vehicle systems, and how to report malfunctions. Gain professional driving skills, earn a Class A Commercial Driver's License, and qualify for entry-level driving positions.
MnDOT Highway Construction Training
With 16 weeks of training you will be prepared for a career in construction! Freshen up your skills in math, get OSHA-10 certified, learn blueprint reading, green construction techniques and standards, financial literacy, how to interview successfully with contractors, and get the chance to speak with professionals in the field. Through this training you will also get the opportunity to do up to 4 weeks of hands-on training at union training centers of your choice.
Gain insight into the highway heavy trades of laborers, operating engineers, iron workers, and the other crucial construction trades that help build Minnesota's roads and infrastructures.

Construction/Building Trades
In partnership with Duluth Adult Education, Building Strong Communities and Duluth Workforce Development, SOAR offers case management and advocacy support for participants seeking placement in building trades registered apprenticeship programs. Participants receive multi-core craft (MC3) curriculum instruction, a pre-apprenticeship training curriculum, developed and approved by the Building Trades National Apprenticeship and Training Committee. Participants receive an overview of the multitude of trade opportunities, get hands on exposure at various union training sites, prepare for job interviews, and meet directly with union representatives and contractors. Advocates are there every step of the way - from enrollment to hands-on training to enrolling into a registered apprenticeship program. Participants increase their skills and personal connections to enter into the construction industry.

Trained Medication Aide (TMA)
Are you a CNA looking to advance in your position or increase your wage? Then, our TMA training is a great fit for you!
This month-long, online training course through LSC prepares you to be able to distribute patient medications in a healthcare setting
Being a TMA in addition to a CNA can raise your hourly wage between $1-3, and make you a valuable asset in many healthcare facilities

Career Connect
Are you 16-24 years old? Looking to start your career in a growing industry?
Career Connect is a program connecting youths to employment opportunities in the hospitality industry. Youths receive one on one case management to assist with job search efforts, filling out applications, developing resumes, and preparing for interviews. This training is cost-free and includes financial incentives for each milestone you achieve in your career journey.
